This assignment focuses on determining your project lifecycle and establishing the work breakdown structure.
Assignment There will be two parts to this assignment.
Part 1:
Start with the project you created a charter for in Unit 2. Identify your project’s lifecycle and outline level 1 and level 2 of the project WBS. Project lifecycle phases include initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closing. Software development lifecycle phases include requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment. Choose a life cycle best suited for your project. You may also review example projects on the Internet for guidance. For example, a level 1 and level 2 WBS might look like the following (this is not a complete example):
1.0 Planning
1.1 Establish wedding budget
1.2 Determine guest list
1.3 Determine honeymoon location
1.4 Determine wedding location
2.0 Execution
2.1 Guest travel
2.2 Prepare reception food
Part 2:
Using what you have learned from the texts, the websites, the PMBOK® Guide, your understanding from the given WBS at tracked level, and the fully decomposed work breakdown structure, complete the assignment for Part 2 by developing a fully decomposed work breakdown structure (WBS) for your chosen project. Extend the WBS you started in Part 1 by completing all of the work packages for your project. Your WBS should follow the template provided and contain all the work packages and activities to deliver the project.
