Using your textbook, Frankopan AND Hurari, the essay above, and three different primary sources (something produced at the time, by someone who was there), discuss the history of poverty. What is it? How does it become an issue during the Industrial Revolution? How is it related to imperialism? To Nationalism? To socialism, communism, and Marxism? How and why does it become a political issue? Why is it still an issue today and how is this a reflection of historiography? How do we see poverty today? How does the bias of your primary sources reflect the way poverty was viewed in the past and how have we changed that view – or have we? Remember to review the grading rubric itself.
