Develop deeper understanding of wholistic health by examining the intermediate determinants of Indigenous.

In Module 2, we will build on our learning in Module 1 on the Distal Determinants of Health by connecting to the Intermediate Determinants of Health within Indigenous communities and their impact on Indigenous peoples Health. The Intermediate Determinants of Health that either promote, or deter, positive health outcomes through health care systems. These include, but are not limited to: Health promotion, education, justice; as well as social supports and government funding. Within an Indigenous specific lens, intermediate determinates of health can also include: access to culture, language, ceremonies, relationship to the land and traditional Indigenous knowledge sharing. We will engage with Indigenous Elders and knowledge keepers to facilitate authentic learning from their lived experiences. Students will examine the way in which they SEE and Indigenous PERSON/PATIENT; and begin to build a wholistic lens of understandings of Indigenous peoples, and their health, in Canada.
